A portrait is always an unusual gift. But the technique in which I can complete a painting to your order is radically different from most of the options available today.
This will help you truly surprise and delight your loved one.
I do not use a projector or canvas printers. When working with photography, foto is just a reference that i hold before my eyes, and I use almost the same methods as when I draw a person who is nearby.
❁ I use a mineral technique that gives a glowing effect from the inside. The portrait becomes more voluminous, realistic, and most importantly - alive.
I make paint from rubbed stones and rocks (rock crystal, real lapis lazuli and other rocks). This is what creates the illusion of inner light and three-dimensional volume.
❁ Minerals alone are not enough: for them to play in all their glory, you need the right base.
In addition to the main photo from which the portrait will be written, it is advisable to send more photos of the person being portrayed at different times, so that I can convey the character, and not just the appearance. A story about a person, about his interests and hobbies will also help a lot.
And if we paint a portrait from life, then you can be an eyewitness of the whole process from the start and to the ready artwork! And also - together we can choose a suitable angle and expose the light.

I painted this portrait in August 2020 from a series of photographs and character description using the technique of mineral colours
The use of this technique was inspired by the works of the Renaissance and Classicism, which I saw in many museums in different countries
My favorite artists are Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn, Ilya Repin, Thomas Gainsborough, Jan Vermeer and many other great authors who have worked in this technique over different eras in different countries. Of course, their level is extremely difficult to achieve. But nevertheless, I believe that their tradition must be continued to the extent of the forces and opportunities that are available in the 21st century.
I mainly use linen canvas, it is more durable.
To preserve the paint layer, I use an intermediate varnish between the paint layers during the painting process.
That is why it is interesting for me to develop and improve in this technique. And of course I want to create for you a work that will delight you and which you can give into inherit.
